10am | DILG Protest to challenge Roxas to act on the killing of a boy in Tarlac demolition

Different urban poor groups will challenge tomorrow DILG Secretary Mar Roxas to act on violence involving elements of PNP during
the demolition of homes in Tarlac City. A 15-year old boy was killed as the residents resisted the demolition of their homes. Barricading residents were also open-fired with bullets during the violent confrontation.

According to the groups, Roxas should imitate Robredo's pro-poor actions with regards to violent demolition of homes as in the case of Silverio demolition last April when the late secretary ordered an investigation on the incident that led to the killing of Arnel Leonor, and ordered a moratorium on demolition in Metro Manila.

The groups, from different communities, will challenge Roxas to stop the demolition in urban poor communities nationwide.

As photo ops, protesters will bring paper outlines of dead bodies and paste then on the floor in front of the DILG office to show the extent of killings due to housing disputes.
