HINDI na pupuwersahin ni Pangulong Noynoy Aquino si PNP Chief Dir. Gen. Nick Bartolome na magbitiw sa pwesto bago ang pagreretiro niya sa Marso 16, 2013.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Sec. Edwin Lacierda, hahanap na lang si Pang. Aquino ng itatalagang PNP chief sa sandaling magretiro si Bartolome.

Ikinatwiran ni Lacierda na mismong si Gen. Bartolome ang tumanggi sa alok ng Pangulo.
Pinagbigyan umano ng Pangulo ang hiling ni Bartolome na magretiro sa Marso para makuha ang buong benepisyo sa PNP.

Kinumpirma ni Lacierda na may hawak ng shortlist ang DILG sa susunod na PNP chief na irerekumenda kay Pang. Aquino kahit limang buwan pa bago magretiro si Bartolome.

Nauna rito, pinipilit ni Pang. Aquino si Bartolome na magbitiw ng mas maaga sa pwesto para maitalaga bilang Undersecretary ng DILG at makapili siya ng papalit na PNP chief  bago ang election ban sa susunod na taon.
